These energetic barbs do best in a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of open swimming space, good filtration, and adequate oxygenation. As social fish, they are best kept in groups and make an excellent addition to larger community aquariums with similarly active, peaceful fish.

Filamentosus Barbs are omnivorous and readily accept a varied diet of quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and small meaty foods. A diverse diet helps promote healthy growth and strong adult coloration.

They are generally peaceful but very active, so tankmates should be able to comfortably handle their energetic swimming behavior. With proper care, they develop into attractive, substantial barbs and should be provided with adequate aquarium space as they mature.
