This impressive South American freshwater catfish features a distinctive elongated body, armored appearance, prominent barbels, and attractive bluish-gray coloration, giving it a prehistoric look that makes it an excellent choice for collectors of unusual and large-growing catfish.

Although offered at a juvenile size, Blue Ripsaw Catfish can grow very large as adults, so a spacious aquarium with powerful filtration should be planned for long-term care. Their eventual adult size makes them best suited for experienced aquarists with appropriately sized systems.

Provide strong filtration, good oxygenation, driftwood, caves, and open bottom space. A soft sand or smooth substrate is recommended to protect the fish while it explores and rests along the bottom of the aquarium.
