Freshwater Lionfish 4–5" Batrachomoeus trispinosus Rare Live Aquarium Fish

The Freshwater Lionfish (Batrachomoeus trispinosus) is an unusual and fascinating predatory fish known for its broad flattened head, large mouth, cryptic coloration, and distinctive lionfish-like appearance. The fish offered in this listing is approximately 4–5 inches in size.

Also known as the Three-Spined Frogfish or Freshwater Toadfish, this species is primarily an ambush predator. It spends much of its time resting near the bottom among rocks, caves, driftwood, and other structures while waiting for food.

Provide a spacious aquarium with excellent filtration, hiding places, subdued areas, and a soft or smooth substrate. Because this is a predatory species with a very large mouth relative to its body, tankmates must be selected carefully. Any fish small enough to fit into its mouth may be eaten.

This species prefers meaty foods such as shrimp, pieces of fish, worms, and other appropriately sized carnivorous foods. Newly introduced specimens may require time to adjust to prepared or non-live foods.

Please research the long-term requirements of this specialized species before purchasing, including appropriate water chemistry as the fish matures.

Professionally packed with oxygen and insulation for transportation. Photos are representative; coloration, markings, pattern, and individual appearance may naturally vary.

You will receive 1 healthy Freshwater Lionfish (Batrachomoeus trispinosus) approximately 4–5 inches in size.
