This pleco should be kept in a well-filtered aquarium with good oxygenation and stable water quality. Provide driftwood, rocks, caves, and shaded hiding areas where the fish can retreat during the day. Like many plecos, it tends to become more active during the evening and nighttime hours.

Peppermint Plecos benefit from a varied diet rather than relying solely on naturally occurring algae. Offer quality sinking wafers and pellets, vegetable-based foods, fresh vegetables such as zucchini, and occasional protein-rich foods appropriate for plecos.
