Yellow Acara Cichlid 2.5-3" Live Freshwater Aquarium Fish Aequidens Metae

The Yellow Acara (Aequidens metae) is a beautiful South American freshwater cichlid admired for its golden-yellow coloration, subtle iridescent highlights, distinctive dark markings, and elegant body shape. Native to the Orinoco River basin, this fascinating species is an excellent choice for aquarium enthusiasts looking for an attractive and less commonly available cichlid.

The fish you will receive measures approximately 2.5–3 inches.

As it matures, the Yellow Acara develops richer yellow and golden tones, often complemented by blue-green reflections on its scales and fins. Its natural coloration and confident swimming behavior make it a striking addition to a well-maintained freshwater aquarium.

Yellow Acaras generally reach approximately 5–6 inches as adults. They thrive in spacious aquariums with clean, well-filtered water, moderate circulation, and stable water conditions. Driftwood, smooth rocks, sandy substrate, and natural hiding areas help create a comfortable environment.

This species is generally less aggressive than many larger cichlids, although territorial behavior may develop during breeding. It can coexist with appropriately sized, peaceful to moderately assertive fish when sufficient space and hiding places are provided.

As an omnivore, the Yellow Acara accepts high-quality cichlid pellets, frozen foods, brine shrimp, bloodworms, and occasional vegetable-based supplements. A balanced diet helps maintain healthy growth and vibrant coloration.

Each fish is carefully selected and professionally packed with oxygen and insulation for transportation. Photos are representative; natural differences in coloration, markings, and appearance may occur.

You will receive 1 healthy Yellow Acara (Aequidens metae), approximately 2.5–3 inches.
